Odisha BJP President and Member of Parliament Manmohan Samal on Sunday assured beneficiaries that the ongoing pension payment issues will be resolved within the next 10 to 15 days. Speaking to the media, Samal explained that the delay occurred due to the rollout of new software used for pension disbursement.
While beneficiaries receiving cash payments were not affected, those whose pensions are credited online have experienced temporary disruptions. The disruption lasted for approximately two months because of the software upgrade.
Samal further stated that the central government is actively developing the new software, and both the central and state administrations are working in tandem to ensure smooth disbursement. He emphasized that those who have not received their pensions will be credited the full amount in one installment soon.
Officials have emphasized that the new system aims to make pension transfers more efficient and transparent. Beneficiaries have been advised to remain patient while authorities expedite the resolution process.
The announcement comes as a relief to thousands of pensioners across the state who were awaiting their payments. Samal clarified that beneficiaries receiving elderly allowances in cash will not face any issues, while those getting payments online have experienced delays due to the new software being developed by the central government.
Once the system is ready, all pending payments will be credited directly to the beneficiaries’ accounts in a single installment. All pending allowances are expected to be fully disbursed within 10 to 15 days, according to Samal.
With coordinated efforts underway between the central and state governments, the pension distribution process is expected to normalize within the next fortnight. This will ensure timely financial support for senior citizens and other eligible beneficiaries across Odisha.
